Luke

Blessings/Woe

In Luke’s version of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus compared the spiritual values of life with the worldly values. One day the world system will be destroyed, along with all who have pinned their hopes on its values. Only God’s eternal values will remain … and those who trust in Him.

On the Road to Emmaus

In Luke 24:13-35, two of Jesus’ disciples walked with Him on the road to Emmaus, but they didn’t realise it was Jesus until something dramatic happened. Their eyes were opened, and their hearts were moved to share the Good News that Jesus was alive. Will you allow Jesus to open your eyes?

Prepared for Christmas

Zechariah wasn’t as quick as Mary and Elizabeth to believe God’s promise. But in Luke 1:57-80, he comes around. Trust and obey: that’s what he needed to do all along. God has always had us on His mind. He will never leave us nor forsake us. It’s up to us to accept His free gift…

More than me

Luke 1:46-56 is the Magnificat. Despite Mary’s fear and discomfort she held onto God’s promise – which was much more than she could imagine. When has God provided “more than enough” for you? What is the “more than me” God is calling you to?

How will this be?

The angel Gabriel appeared to Mary in Luke 1:26-38 to tell her that she would become pregnant and give birth to a son, naming him Jesus. May we have the attitude of Mary: When God lets us see let us say let it be

How will I know?

We read in Luke 1:5-25 that even a righteous man like Zechariah can fall into unbelief occasionally. This piece of Scripture reminds us that nothing is impossible for God.

Final Test

In Luke 6:6-11, the Pharisees try to trap Jesus into healing a man (doing work) on the Sabbath. Our challenge is to not be like the Pharisees; to not put God to the test.
